Preschool Classes and Grade 0-1 Classes

Each lesson is broken down into three sections:

Warm up
This section of the lesson involves a general warm up of all the parts of the children's bodies including their faces and voices. We play general gross motor games that incorporate, crossing the midline, social integration, concentration and team work amongst others, this is very important as it gets the children warm and focused for the lesson.

Developmental section
This section generally deals with a specific theme or task that we are working on (eg. The farm, careers, easter, the circus), we play developmental games around this theme as well as doing large amounts of improvisation and make believe tasks, we include memory and speech work, confidence and eye contact, basic stage practice, Spatial and body awareness and of course group dynamics and teamwork.

Performance section
In this part of the lesson we concentrate on learning various performance pieces, in our pre school classes it generally takes the form of poetry, songs, movement or basic improv with big actions.

We try to keep the classes as fun and stress-free as possible. Once a year we hold an open class for the parents to come and see a little of what we have been doing during the year.

Primary Classes(Grade 2 –7)

These classes follow a similar format however there is much more emphasis on acting (making it real, stage practice and direction, characterization and elocution)

Warm up
This section of the lesson involves a general warm up of all the parts of the children's bodies including their faces and voices. We play specific drama warm up games that incorporate a vocal warm up too. This is very important section of the lesson as it gets the children warm and focused for the lesson.

Developmental section
This section generally deals with a specific concept that we are working on eg: corpsing(laughing on stage) characterization, accents, presenting etc, we play drama games around these concepts as well as doing large amounts of improvisation and make believe tasks, and obviously these vary according to the age group being taught.

Performance section
In this part of the lesson we concentrate on learning various performance pieces, it can range from performance improv , choral verses or short plays or poems, we try to encourage each child to have a chance to perform on the stage.

We try to keep the classes as fun and stress-free as possible.

Once a year we hold an open class for the parents to come and see a little of what we have been doing during the year.
